This software illustrates a theory of time, history and the end of history as first described in the book The Invisible Landscape by Terence and Dennis McKenna. As related by Terence McKenna in his book True Hallucinations, the theory of Timewave Zero was revealed to him in the wake of an unusual psychedelic experiment conducted deep in the Amazon jungle in Colombia in 1971, which led to his being instructed in certain transformations of numbers, derived from the King Wen Sequence of I Ching hexagrams, relating to the occurrence of temporal phenomena. This led eventually to a mathematical description of "the timewave", which allegedly correlates time and history with the ebb and flow of something called Novelty, claimed to be a quality intrinsic to the temporal structure of the universe.

A peculiarity of this correlation is that at a certain point a singularity is reached which is the end of history — or at least a transition to a supra-historical order in which our ordinary conceptions of reality will be radically transformed. The date of this point was chosen by McKenna to be December 21, 2012, the date of the winter solstice of that year and also the end of the current era of 13 baktuns in the Maya Calendar (according to the Goodman-Martinez-Thompson correlation 584,283).

A remarkable quality of the timewave is that it is a fractal (although this was not fully revealed until the late 1980s). Once a part of the wave is displayed the software allows you to expand any smaller part. This usually reveals a complexity of structure which persists however much the wave is magnified, a property typical of fractals. The idea that time has a fractal structure (in contrast to the Newtonian conception of time as pure, unstructured, duration) was first proposed by Terence McKenna. It is certainly an intriguing idea worthy of further consideration by physicists.

An interesting part of the theory of Timewave Zero is the notion of historical periods "in resonance" with each other, in which the events of the earlier period are in some sense repeated in the later. The software permits graphical display of different regions of the timewave that are in resonance with each other, and includes the ability to graph the so-called trigrammatic resonances in addition to the major resonances. This Fractal Time software thus permits a proper examination of Terence McKenna's claim to have discovered a property of time in terms of which historical phenomena can be explained and even predicted.

I'll have more to say on my friend John McAfee's legacy at some point after this all settles down. But I wanted to share something with those that are reading headlines today and coming to this page for whatever reason. Also, friends and fam that just knew we were close with John but never met him. This is the only version of this John Mcafee speech that I know of to exist. Despite running everything else by me, on this one, he wouldn't even tell me what he was going to say at the 2016 Libertarian National Convention floor.

After we had spent months busting through his digital Rolodex to invite every media asset to the convention (surprise: Gary Johnson wasn't the main attraction). He wanted all eyes on this message, and for freedom-loving people of all stripes to take grassroots civic action to protect their liberties. John asked me to trust him to speak his mind and heart, and he did. Agree with him or not, he spoke fearlessly and with genuine conviction. We could all follow that example, no matter what we're discussing or doing in life.

McAfee didn't just talk the talk, he walked the walk. He was the freest mind and spirit. Fearless, complicated, Machiavellian. He gave me a lot of advice in the years we worked together. His most insightful gem: never trust the media.

Since I'm unable to be on the motorcycle for now (*sigh*)... I was rooting around on my hard drive for a video I thought I had saved years ago - couldn't find it, but I did find something else long-lost:...

Back on January 16, 1991, my mom (a stay-at-home mom at the time - boy, those were the days!) was watching CBS Television (the go-to network for news back then) while doing some housework. While she was in front of the TV, CBS interrupted their regular programing for breaking news. The White House was just about to announce the beginning of Operation Desert Storm, a.k.a. the Gulf War - a bit expected by the news agencies but still unexpected at the time.

Just as the news broke, my mom hurried & grabbed a VHS tape, juggled with the cellophane wrapping, popped it into the VCR and hit record as fast as she could just as quick as CBS was going to the White House. She captured pretty much everything, right at the beginning of non-stop coverage of the war by CBS News; as it happened and as things were known. This video shows nearly 2.5 of what I believe to be six hour VHS tape.

Years ago my parents left stacks of VHS tapes in my care (my dad is still urging me to throw them out :/ ) - TV recordings dating back, beginning in the 1980's (memories~). This recording is one of the more significant ones. In 2012, a company came out with a VCR/VHS to computer video converter, so I bought it and captured what I could of the Desert Storm tape then (2.5 hours - HDD limitations ~o~ ~). Hopefully one of these days I can capture the rest of that tape.....

So anyways, this is what news looked like at that time; before the time of the internet, of instant knowledge and of instant news. Hope this brief glimpse into the past interests you about as much as it brings back memories to me :p heh (...maybe not-so-good ones :/ ~)~.....
